Wani Collects Second GNAC Weekly Honor of the Season

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released, and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Remijo Wani (Portland, Maine) has been named GNAC Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Wani powered the Monks to a statement 84-61 victory over the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday, pouring in a game-high 30 points with eight rebounds and two assists to clinch the No. 1 seed for the GNAC Tournament. In a 2-0 week, he averaged 26.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 53.8% (21-for-39) from the floor, 47.4% (9-for-19) from three-point range, and 100% (2-for-2) at the free-throw line. He opened the week with 23 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, and six assists in a 95-70 road win at Regis College.

Through 19 games this season, Wani is averaging 23.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 49.3% (168-341) from the field, 41.4% (58-140) from beyond the arc, and 74.1% (43-58) at the line. Despite missing six games due to injury, he leads the GNAC in scoring average and ranks among the conference leaders in field goals made (168, 4th), total points (437, 6th), three-pointers made (58, 6th), three-point percentage (8th) and free-throw percentage (8th).

Saint Joseph's, the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Tournament, will host No. 8 Norwich University in a conference quarterfinal at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
