STANDISH, Maine – Senior guard Logan Brown (Brunswick, Maine) netted six three-pointers and 24 points – both career-highs – to help Saint Joseph's College (10-10, 5-2 GNAC) cruise past Lasell University (15-6, 4-4 GNAC), 77-64, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's basketball action on Mike McDevitt Court at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The conference rivals traded the lead five times in the opening quarter, with the Monks clinging to a 14-13 edge after 10 minutes. Saint Joseph's found separation in the second, shooting 47.4% (9-of-19) from the floor and ripping off a 12-2 run—capped by a Layla Facchiano (Auburn, Maine) jumper—to build a game-high 16-point advantage (36-20) with 4:07 remaining before halftime.
Lasell trailed 40-32 at the break but methodically trimmed the deficit in the third, using a 9-2 spurt—featuring four points apiece from Blaize Mack (Chicopee, Mass.) and Laura Johnson (Groton, Conn.)—to pull within one (42-41) with 5:13 left in the period. Logan Brown then took over for the hosts, scoring eight points during a 14-6 surge that pushed SJC back in control and sent the Monks into the fourth up 56-47.
The Lasers made one more run, closing within four midway through the final frame, but Brown and Facchiano answered immediately. The duo combined for all 10 points in a decisive 10-0 push that stretched the margin to 74-60 with 1:41 remaining, effectively sealing the win.
STATS OF THE GAME:
Saint Joseph's knocked down 11-of-29 (37.9%) from three-point range while Lasell went 0-for-15 from deep, marking the Lasers' first scoreless night from downtown since a 0-for-11 showing in a loss to University of Saint Joseph on February 18, 2025.
The Monks also leaned on their depth, owning a 32-4 edge in bench points to help offset Lasell's 42-18 advantage in points in the paint.
