Saint Joseph's Falls at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Saint Joseph's College (3-2) suffered a 24-4 setback to Colorado College (5-1) in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Washburn Field on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Colorado College grabbed control immediately, scoring eight times in the opening quarter to build an 8-0 lead after 15 minutes. The Tigers added six more goals in the second stanza before junior Nicolas Michaud (Wales, Maine) broke the Monks onto the scoreboard with an unassisted marker at the 6:50 mark. Colorado answered with three more goals before the break and carried a 14-1 lead into halftime.

The Tigers kept up the pressure in the third quarter, but Saint Joseph's found a pair of goals in the frame. Junior Brandon Cavicchi (Kingston, Mass.) scored unassisted with 8:41 left in the period and sophomore Caleb Reardon (Belchertown, Mass.) added an unassisted tally with 1:18 to go, sending the Monks into the fourth trailing 18-3.

Colorado opened the final quarter with two more goals before Cavicchi struck again with 6:05 remaining off an assist from freshman Wyatt Knutson (Brunswick, Maine). The Tigers closed the contest with the final four goals of the night to secure the 24-4 decision.

STATS OF THE GAME:

Colorado College held the edge in shots (60-19), shots on goal (39-9), ground balls (41-23), clears (20-of-21 to 16-of-25), and face-offs (18-31 to 13-31). The Tigers also went 2-for-3 on extra-man chances, while the Monks did not have an extra-man opportunity.

THE KEEPERS:

Junior Reed Wescott (Windham, Maine) made 15 saves in a complete-game effort for Saint Joseph's. Colorado College goalie Robert Spence earned the win after stopping three shots over the opening 30 minutes.
