Mac Seain Earns D3baseball.com & MCBSA Accolades

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior Padraig Mac Seain (Brookline, N.H.) has been named to the March 18 D3baseball.com Team of the Week and also earned Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) Pitcher of the Week honors.

The latest recognition comes on the heels of Mac Seain being selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Mac Seain earned the honors after a dominant performance in Saint Joseph's 6-0 victory over Mount St. Joseph on March 13. The left-hander fired a complete-game two-hit shutout, striking out 11 and walking just one over seven innings. He allowed only two baserunners through the first five frames and posted a 0.43 WHIP with a 14.14 strikeouts-per-nine rate in the non-conference win.

Through three starts this spring, Mac Seain is 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 19.0 innings. He has surrendered only eight hits and five walks, good for a 0.68 WHIP and a .123 opponents' batting average.

The MCBSA weekly accolade is the second of Mac Seain's career, while the D3baseball.com Team of the Week selection is the first national weekly honor of his career. He becomes the eighth player in program history — and just the second pitcher — to earn D3baseball.com Team of the Week recognition. Anthony DiPrizio '19 was the last Saint Joseph's player to receive the honor on April 29, 2019, while Corey McNamara '16 was the last Monk pitcher to do so on April 13, 2015.

For his career, Mac Seain owns a 13-5 record with a 3.44 ERA and 137 strikeouts against only 38 walks in 131.0 innings. He has compiled a 1.24 WHIP and held opponents to a .252 batting average.

Saint Joseph's opens a four-game conference stretch on Saturday with a doubleheader at Albertus Magnus College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM at Hamden High School.
