STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's track & field team produced a strong showing on Senior Day at the Monks Track & Field Invite on Saturday, highlighted by three event victories, multiple DIII New England qualifying performances, and several standout efforts across the track and field events.
"Today was a special day honoring our seniors and the individual growth they've shown over the past four years," said Saint Joseph's head coach Mike Burleson. "Their effort and commitment have been a key part of elevating our program.
"We brought good energy and took advantage of competing on our home track. With multiple strong performances across events including school and stadium records it's a great sign we are doing the right things at the right time of year."
The Monks were led by junior Haytham Ramadan, who won the 800 meters in a DIII New England qualifying time and stadium record of 1:51.77. Sophomore Isaac Keresey also delivered a strong all-around day with a victory in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.55, a runner-up finish in the pole vault at 3.70 meters, and a leg on Saint Joseph's second-place 4x400-meter relay. Junior Matthew Corriveau added a win in the long jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 6.79 meters, while senior Abdirizak Abukar placed second in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, the latter in a DIII New England qualifying 22.27. Senior Alexey Seredin added a runner-up finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:25.76.
SPRINTS AND RELAYS
Abukar paced the Monks in the short sprints, placing second in the 100 meters in 11.06 and second again in the 200 meters in 22.27, which met the DIII New England standard. Junior Carl Peters added an 11.97 in the 100 meters, while senior Noah Batoosingh placed fifth in the 200 meters in 23.61. Junior Aidan Mills posted a 54.83 in the 400 meters.
Saint Joseph's entered three 4x100-meter relay teams on the day. The A relay of Dalton Feeney, John Read, Batoosingh, and Abukar clocked 44.51, while the C team of Eli Benjamin, Junior Antonio, Devonte Prom, and Nick Munyaneza placed eighth in 48.31. The B team of Brandt Bishop, Alexander Greslick, Daven Duquette, and Cameron Gonyer finished ninth in 53.11. In the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Harrison Fields, Mills, Emilson Zocolo, and Keresey placed second overall in 3:44.52.
MID-DISTANCE AND DISTANCE
Ramadan delivered one of the top marks of the meet with his winning effort of 1:51.77 in the 800 meters, a DIII New England qualifying time. Junior Emilson Zocolo followed in fifth at 2:12.85, just ahead of junior Harrison Fields in sixth at 2:15.67. Junior Kyle Benson added a 2:27.39 and senior EJ Sungubele posted a 2:37.07. Senior Alexey Seredin turned in a runner-up finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:25.76.
HURDLES
The Monks showed strong depth in the hurdles, led by sophomore John Read's runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.10. Junior Tudum Monday followed closely in third in 16.27, while Feeney placed fourth in 18.46. Keresey topped the long hurdle group with a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.55, another DIII New England qualifying performance, and Mills added a fourth-place finish in 1:03.54.
JUMPS
Corriveau led the Monks in the horizontal jumps by winning the long jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 6.79 meters (22' 3.5"). Junior Antonio placed fourth at 6.16 meters, freshman Nick Munyaneza was 10th at 5.94 meters, and junior Devonte Prom followed in 11th at 5.81 meters. Freshman Patrick Murphy added a 4.53-meter effort.
Munyaneza added another top finish in the triple jump, placing second with a mark of 12.66 meters (41' 6.5"). In the high jump, Antonio finished third after clearing 1.84 meters (6' 0.5"), while Benjamin cleared 1.63 meters (5' 4.25") and Martinho Codo was unable to clear the opening scored height. Keresey turned in a runner-up finish in the pole vault by clearing 3.70 meters (12' 1.5"), while senior Brayden Grant reached 2.65 meters and Fields cleared 2.20 meters.
THROWS
Sophomore Dalton Feeney led the Monks in the javelin with a throw of 36.64 meters (120' 2"), while freshman Brandt Bishop followed at 29.52 meters. Freshman Daven Duquette paced Saint Joseph's in both the discus and hammer throw, posting marks of 29.50 meters and 33.53 meters, respectively. Junior Gabryel Balch added a 24.58-meter throw in the discus and a 27.99-meter toss in the hammer, while Anthony Vasquez reached 27.80 meters in the hammer.
In the shot put, Vasquez posted the top Monk mark at 10.66 meters, followed by senior Alexander Greslick at 10.24 meters, Bishop at 9.78 meters, and freshman Terrance Medina at 9.29 meters. Greslick added a 23.53-meter mark in the discus, while Gonyer fouled in the discus and did not record a legal mark in the javelin.
