Ramadan Wraps Up Historic Season at NCAA Outdoor Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Saint Joseph's College of Maine junior Haytham Ramadan competed in the men's 800-meter preliminaries at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex.

Ramadan finished 19th overall in the preliminary round with a time of 1:52.88, closing out a historic junior campaign that saw him become the first Saint Joseph's College track & field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships and the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference athlete to reach the national outdoor track & field championship meet.

The top nine finishers from Friday's preliminary round advanced to the 800-meter final. SUNY Geneseo junior Ryan Hagan posted the fastest preliminary time at 1:49.36, while MIT's Jacob Dinerman claimed the final qualifying spot in 1:50.40.

Ramadan entered the national meet as the No. 22 seed after running 1:50.44 at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 14. Competing on the final day qualifying marks could be accepted, Ramadan finished sixth in a loaded field at MIT and secured the 22nd and final declared spot in the NCAA Championship 800-meter field.

Friday's race marked Ramadan's second NCAA Championship appearance of the year. During the indoor season, he became the first national qualifier in Saint Joseph's indoor track & field history before earning First Team All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

His outdoor qualification added another milestone to one of the finest individual seasons in Monks track & field history. Ramadan's 1:50.44 at MIT capped a standout spring and further established him among the top middle-distance runners in NCAA Division III.

The men's 800-meter national championship was won by Dickinson senior Trevor Richwine, who ran 1:47.39 in Saturday's final to set a new meet record. Richwine entered the championship with the top seed time in the field.

Ramadan closes his junior season as a national qualifier in both indoor and outdoor track & field, an indoor First Team All-American, a program-record holder, and one of the most accomplished athletes in Saint Joseph's College track & field history.
