SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College men's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the NCAA Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held May 1-2, 2026 at Springfield College, highlighted by an event title from junior
Haytham Ramadan, a scoring performance in the long jump, and strong representation across the sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events.
"It's always rewarding to see our athletes competing at the New England Championship and representing our program so well," said Saint Joseph's head coach Mike Burleson. "Our men and women had some impressive marks and were strongly represented across multiple events.
"Haytham has put in consistent work all season, and it's paying off. This weekend was about executing a smart race plan and setting the tone for the end of the season."
Ramadan led the way for the Monks by winning the 800 meters in a DIII New England qualifying time of 1:52.51. Junior
Matthew Corriveau also scored for Saint Joseph's with a sixth-place finish in the long jump, reaching 6.95 meters (22' 9.75"). Senior
Abdirizak Abukar added a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters in 49.61, while the Monks also saw strong efforts from sophomore
John Read in the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries, juniors
Tudum Monday and
Isaac Keresey in the 400-meter hurdles, and sophomore
Junior Antonio in the high jump.
SPRINTS AND RELAYS
Abukar paced the Monks in the sprint events with a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 49.61 to score two team points. Saint Joseph's also competed in the 4x100-meter relay, as the quartet of
Noah Batoosingh,
John Read,
Dalton Feeney, and Abukar posted a time of 43.41 to place 12th overall.
MID-DISTANCE AND DISTANCE
Ramadan delivered the highlight of the weekend for Saint Joseph's by winning the 800 meters in 1:52.51, capping another outstanding performance in one of the Monks' premier events. Senior
Jacob Pelletier also represented the Monks in the 10,000 meters and finished 19th in 33:47.78.
HURDLES
Read turned in a solid effort in the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries, finishing 15th in a time of 15.68. In the 400-meter hurdles, Monday posted a 57.75 and Keresey followed in 58.09 as both Monks competed well against one of the region's strongest fields.
JUMPS
Corriveau turned in Saint Joseph's top field-event finish of the meet, placing sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.95 meters (22' 9.75") to score three team points. Antonio added a strong performance in the high jump, clearing 1.87 meters (6' 1.5") to place 15th. Freshman Nick Munyaneza also competed in the triple jump and recorded a mark of 12.68 meters (41' 7.25").
