STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse players have been recognized for their outstanding performances.
Senior attacker Celia Melanson (Waterford, Maine) was named the GNAC Player of the Week, while senior goalie Alexis Eldridge (Effingham, N.H.) earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week accolades.
Melanson enjoyed a dominant week in a pair of conference victories, totaling five goals and 11 assists for 16 points while adding seven ground balls and two draw controls. She opened the week with three goals and six assists in a decisive win over Regis on Tuesday, then added two goals, five assists, and five ground balls in Saturday's 18-7 victory over the University of Saint Joseph.
Through 16 games this spring, Melanson has totaled 15 goals and 67 assists for 82 points while also collecting 28 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, and nine draw controls. A starter in all 16 contests, she currently leads the GNAC in assists, ranks second in the conference in points, and leads NCAA Division III with 4.19 assists per game.
The weekly honor is the third of Melanson's collegiate career and her first since March 2, 2025.
Eldridge also turned in a strong week in goal, posting a 5.00 goals-against average and a .565 save percentage while helping Saint Joseph's secure two GNAC victories. The senior made three saves in Tuesday's win over Regis and followed with seven stops in Saturday's triumph over USJ.
In 11 appearances this season, Eldridge owns a 7.54 goals-against average, a .468 save percentage, and a 4-1 record in nearly 298 minutes of action. In Saturday's win over the Blue Jays, she became the first goalkeeper in Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse history to record 30 career victories and also reached the 200-save milestone for her career.
Saint Joseph's (13-3, 12-0 GNAC) closes out the regular season on Wednesday with a 5:00 PM conference game at Elms College.
