Dernier Named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Jake Dernier (Marshfield, Mass.) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week.

Dernier was outstanding in a pair of low-scoring victories, totaling 27 saves with a 69.2% save percentage and a 5.82 goals-against average over 123:41 in goal. The sophomore netminder delivered the finest performance of his career when it mattered most, making a career-high 19 saves while allowing just six goals in Saint Joseph's thrilling 7-6 overtime upset of No. 3 seed Lasell University in Saturday's GNAC Quarterfinal.

In six games this season, Dernier owns a 7.02 GAA with a .632 save percentage and 55 saves against just 32 goals allowed over 274 minutes in net. The GNAC weekly honor is the first of his collegiate career.

No. 6 seed Saint Joseph's (10-8, 7-4 GNAC) will play at No. 2 seed University of Saint Joseph in GNAC semifinal action on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
