STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College sophomore goalkeeper Jake Dernier (Marshfield, Mass.) has earned a spot on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) D-III Team of the Week.
Dernier collected the national recognition after backstopping the Monks to a pair of defensive-minded victories, registering 30 saves with a 71.4% save percentage and a 5.82 goals-against average across 123:41 in the cage. His week was highlighted by a career-best 22-save effort in Saturday's 7-6 overtime upset of No. 3 seed Lasell University in the GNAC Quarterfinals, as he turned away 78.6% of the shots he faced while allowing just six goals.
Dernier becomes just the second player in team history to land on the USILA Team of the Week, joining Timothy Goodfellow '24, who received the same honor on March 29, 2023 after tying an NCAA DIII record with 15 assists against the University of Southern Maine.
Through six appearances this spring, Dernier owns a 7.01 goals-against average with a .644 save percentage, 58 saves, and just 32 goals allowed over 274 minutes.
No. 6 seed Saint Joseph's (10-8, 7-4 GNAC) travels to No. 2 seed University of Saint Joseph for a GNAC Semifinal matchup on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
