STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's (8-7) required 11 innings to defeat Maine-Farmington (0-9), 3-2, at Larry Mahaney Diamond on Thursday afternoon. Senior right fielder Todd Keneborus (Hollis Center, ME/Cheverus) plated shortstop Dan Achorn '12 (Bow, NH) with two out in the bottom of the 11th to provide the Monks with their second consecutive extra-inning triumph.

SJC starting pitcher Nick Whittaker '14 (Yarmouth, ME) yielded one earned run on seven hits and a walk while fanning eight in nine innings and reliever Jimmy Kennedy '13 (York, ME) notched his first collegiate win with two frames of scoreless work.

Beavers starter Dale Winchenbach '13 (Waldoboro, ME) allowed two runs on six hits and four walks and had four strikeouts in 8.1 innings. Reliever Brendan Gallagher '12 (North Yarmouth, ME) took the loss after yielding one run on two hits and a walk with a pair of punch outs in 2.1 frames.

Freshman first baseman Joe Davis (Standish, ME) was the Monks' lone repeat hitter and went 2-2 with a run and a stolen base in the triumph. Second baseman Brandon Chase '13 (Naples, ME) led off the bottom of the second inning with his first collegiate home run, a deep blast to left center.

Beavers center fielder Russ Schmelzer '11 (Winthrop, ME) went 2-4 in the losing effort.

Monks starting catcher Willie Brown '14 (Fayette, ME) threw out all three of Farmington's would-be basestealers during his eight innings behind the plate.

Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Davis, who reached on an infield single, scored on a groundout by designated hitter Alex Lorenc '14 (Nanuet, NY).

Beavers catcher Jack MacVane '12 (Mechanic Falls, ME) walked and scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first to knot the game at one all. Chase lifted the Monks to a 2-1 edge when he turned around a Winchenbach offering for a solo jack in the bottom of the second.

The 2-1 lead stood until the top of the sixth when Beavers first baseman Josh Garneau '11 (South Portland, ME) scored on a single through the left side hit by designated hitter Matt Levine '11 (Pelham, NH).

The SJC sticks were silent until the bottom of the 11th with two out when Achorn short-hopped the left field wall for a double and scored on a line drive single to left struck by Keneborus.

With the win, Saint Joseph's improves to 60-12 in the history of the series with Maine-Farmington.
