NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Saint Joseph's College (6-0, 3-0 GNAC) blanked University of Saint Joseph (0-2, 0-2 GNAC), 20-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse contest on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks netted eight goals in the first 10 minutes of play and held a 14-0 cushion at halftime. Senior Brianne Maloney (South Portland, Maine) scored twice in the second half to help extend her team's lead to the 20-0 final score.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC sophomore Kaylin Mansir (West Gardiner, Maine) was untested in the one-sided contest while her counterpart, USJ's Emily Bourassa (Bristol, Conn.), made 14 saves in a losing effort.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held considerable advantages in shots (43-1), ground balls (25-7), and draw controls (19-3) and was 4-4 on clear attempts while committing just nine turnovers in the victory. University of Saint Joseph committed 24 turnovers and was 4-14 on clear bids.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Senior Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) scored four goals with two ground balls and three draw controls
  • Freshman Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine) scored four goals on six shots
  • Junior Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) netted three goals with a pair of assists, three ground balls, and four draw controls
  • Sophomore Madison Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) contributed two goals, three assists, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers
  • Maloney tacked on a pair of goals and two draw controls
  • Junior Brittney Arsenault (Westbrook, Maine) chipped in with a goal, an assist, two ground balls, and nine draw controls

LEADERS – UNIVERSITY OF SAINT JOSEPH:

  • Annmarie Masayda picked up three draw controls
  • Abigail Horner and Charlotte Eberhardt notched two ground balls apiece

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 11-0 all-time versus University of Saint Joseph.

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will host Bates College on Thursday at 6:00 PM. The game was originally scheduled for March 13th but was postponed due to inclement weather.
