~ ALG ~STANDISH, Maine – Sophomore Emily Ryan (Wakefield, Mass.) tallied four goals to lift Saint Joseph's College (2-2, 2-0 GNAC) past the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays (1-4, 0-3 GNAC), 13-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse game at the SJC Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks got the ball rolling quickly when Ryan netted two goals within the first two minutes and thirteen seconds of gameplay. Sophomore Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine) racked two goals and an assist during the first half to help the Monks build a comfortable 7-0 lead heading into intermission.

Ring opened the second-half scoring with a free-position strike just 54 seconds into the final frame and the Monks netted four goals during the final seven minutes of play to account for the 13-0 final.

Due to injuries incurred by the Blue Jays, the game was halted after 48 minutes of play.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (41-5), ground balls (28-14), draw controls (13-1) and turnovers (11-21) on the evening.

THE KEEPERS:

Kaylin Mansir (West Gardiner, Maine), who got the nod for the beginning faceoff, earned the victory after making two saves on two shots faced in the first half. Freshman Madelyn Nelson (Casco, Maine) was untested in 18 minutes in the second half.

University of Saint Joseph freshman Silvana Barcomb (Middletown, Conn.) racked up 15 saves on 28 shots.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Ryan accumulated four goals on seven shots with a ground ball and a caused turnover
  • Ring posted three goals, one assist and four ground balls
  • Junior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) added two goals, one assist, three ground balls and a caused turnover
  • Senior Kayla Kelly (York, Maine) scored a goal with an assist with five ground balls and seven draw controls

LEADERS – UNIVERSITY OF SAINT JOSEPH:

  • Charlotte Eberhardt (Thomaston, Conn.) had four shots and a ground ball
  • Symantha Fazzino (Newington, Conn.) scooped up three ground balls with a caused turnover
  • Emonnie Weston (Hamden, Conn.) contributed with a shot and a ground ball

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is now 12-0 all-time versus University of Saint Joseph.
