Luby & Strobeck Lead the Way at Shawnee Peak

BRIDGTON, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College alpine ski teams competed in the 5th Annual Lobstah Cup, a giant slalom event, at Shawnee Peak on Saturday.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Jillian Luby (Wolfeboro, N.H.) finished the day as the fastest women's skier on the mountain with a 1:24.55 (42.56, 41.99) time on the first course and a 1:24.84 (41.91, 42.93) effort on the second
  • Freshman Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) placed 10th (1:22.89 – 40.73, 42.16) in the first race and 19th (1:25.57 – 42.13, 43.44) on the second course
  • Freshman Kaitlyn Gerhard (Dover, N.H.) was 37th (1:43.28 – 50.82, 52.46) in the first event and 40th (1:44.13 – 51.29, 52.84) in the second
  • Junior Sarah Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) finished the first run of races in both events (45.89, 47.10) with DNF's on each of the second runs

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) was the fastest men's racer on the mountain with a 1:15.04 (37.43, 37.61) time on the first course and a 1:13.66 (36.68, 36.98) performance on the second; the first-year standout earned individual wins in both races
  • Freshman Aidan Wolfinger (Bedford, N.H.) placed third (1:18.97 – 39.43, 39.54) in the first race and seventh 1:20.28 – 39.98, 40.30) in the second event
  • Freshman Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) was fifth (1:18.92 – 39.32, 39.60) in the second race and sixth (1:20.13 – 39.83, 40.30) in the second
