LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Sophomore Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) placed 26th overall to lead the Saint Joseph's College women's alpine ski team to a 21st place finish in the giant slalom to open the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Tuesday at Whiteface Mountain.

Pingree posted a 1:09.48 (25th) time on the first run and a 1:11.63 (27th) on the second stint for a 2:21.11 composite effort while freshman Madelyn Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) finished 46th with a 2:29.80 (1:13.11, 1:16.69) performance. Sophomores Maeghan Perkins and Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) and freshman Lillian Souweine (Bangor, Maine) also competed but posted DNF's on both runs.

Saint Joseph's, making their first National Championships appearance as a third-year varsity program, will race in the Slalom National Championship on Thursday and the Dual Slalom Championship on Saturday.

The SJC men hit the slopes tomorrow for their leg of the Giant Slalom National Championships.
