STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (14-0, 10-0 GNAC) defeated Norwich University (9-4, 7-3 GNAC), 18-6, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Monday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Monks started the game on a 5-0 run in the opening 10 minutes and held a 12-3 advantage heading into intermission. Sophomore Cailyn Wesley (Peabody, Mass.) and freshman Shauna Clark (Oakland, Maine) kicked off the third period with a man-up goal apiece to make it a 14-3 game with 11:24 left in the penultimate quarter.

The hosts opened the fourth frame with markers from Clark, Bridget Collins (Milford, Conn.) and Carson Battaglia (Gorham, Maine) to claim a game-high 14-goal (18-4) cushion with 6:18 on the clock.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held lopsided leads in shots (41-9), shots on goal (34-7), ground balls (34-26) and draw controls (22-3) in the victory.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC freshman Morgan Wright (Chelmsford, Mass.) made one save with three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers in the victory while Norwich netminder Katie Bishop-Manning turned away 16 shots and scooped up five ground balls in a losing effort.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• Grad student Lydia Dexter (Oakland, Maine) recorded three goals, three assists, four ground balls and a pair of draw controls
• Battaglia added four goals and an assist with eight draw controls and two ground balls
• Collins netted four goals on nine shots with two ground balls
• Clark added two goals, three ground balls and six draw controls while Wesley chipped in with two goals, five ground balls and four draw controls

LEADERS – NORWICH:

• Emma O'Neill netted a pair of goals while Quinn Mustone, Maddie Etherton, Allison Sturgeon, and Michaila Furchak registered a goal apiece

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 13-6 all-time versus Norwich University in 12 consecutive meetings dating back to the 2014 campaign.

Saint Joseph's will host Anna Maria College tomorrow in the Monks' final regular-season home game of the year. Opening draw is slated for 6:00 PM.
