Saint Joseph's Tops Holy Family, 11-3

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Saint Joseph's College (4-2) defeated Holy Family University (0-6), 11-3, in a non-conference women's lacrosse contest on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Holy Family held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, but Saint Joseph's scored all three of the second stanza goals as part of a 10-0 run to close out the road contest with an 11-3 victory.

TEAM STATS:

The Monks held the lead in shots (25-16), shots on goal (20-10), ground balls (32-26), and caused turnovers (25-21) while Holy Family posted a 9-8 edge in draw controls on the afternoon.

THE KEEPERS:

SJC sophomore starter Alexis Eldridge (Effingham, N.H.) earned the win after giving up three goals with four saves in the first half and junior Morgan Wright (Chelmsford, Mass.) pitched a shutout in the second half with three saves.

Holy Family netminder Olivia Kueny allowed 11 goals and made nine saves in a complete game effort.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Junior Mackenzie Siebert (Naples, Maine) scored three goals with an assist and two draw controls
  • Freshman Taylor Dumond (Minisink, N.Y.) netted three goals on five shots
  • Sophomore Sophia Burton (Westtown, N.Y.) added two goals on as many shots
  • Sophomore Celia Melanson (Waterford, Maine) scored twice with a pair of caused turnovers
  • Senior Madison Scott (Cumberland, Maine) broke the Monks' single game caused turnovers record with eight and added nine ground balls
  • Senior Bridget Collins (Milford, Conn.) scored a goal with two assists
  • Senior Carson Battaglia (Gorham, Maine) added an assist, four ground balls, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers

LEADERS – HOLY FAMILY:

  • Payton Pugh scored a goal with six ground balls and 10 caused turnovers
  • Rianna Shields added a goal and an assist with three ground balls
  • Tori Wolstenholme scored and posted three ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers
