SJC Secures 72-41 Conference Win Over Regis

STANDISH, Maine. — The Saint Joseph's College (8-4, 1-1) women's basketball team earned a 72-41 victory over the Regis College Pride (1-10, 1-1) on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Saint Joseph's College (8-4) started strong, scoring the first 13 points of the game, fueled by two three-pointers from Logan Brown (Brunswick, ME). Regis got on the board with a three-pointer followed by a jumper. Despite a late 5-4 scoring run by the Pride, the Monks closed the first quarter with a commanding 23-10 lead.

The Monks opened the second quarter with a three-pointer from Lindsay Fiorillo (Scarborough, ME) and a jumper by Grace Ramsdell (Wells, ME) to extend their lead. The teams traded three-pointers early in the second quarter before a pair of free throws from Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, NH)  further widened the Monks' advantage. Regis managed a brief 2-3 run to end the half but the Pride still trailed 39-20 at halftime. The Pride kicked off the third quarter with a jumper and a free throw after drawing a foul. However, Saint Joseph's responded with three unanswered points. The Monks surged ahead, closing the third quarter with a 58-33 lead.

In the final quarter, Saint Joseph's maintained their dominance, outscoring Regis 14-8 to seal a decisive 72-41 victory.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Junior Grace Ramsdell  led the Monks with 21points, three assists, and three rebounds
  • Graduate Student Angelica Hurley (Groveland, MA) recorded nine points, eight rebounds,and five assists
  • Junior Logan Brown notched 11 points, three rebounds, and a steal
  • Brylee Bishop (Gorham, ME) added eight points, five rebounds, and two steals
  • Elisabeth Stapelfeld scored seven points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals

LEADERS – REGIS:

  • Madi Zancan led the Pride with 11 points and 10 rebounds with three steals
  • Jillian Perry (Melrose, Mass.) added eight points and one assist
  • Erika Marinelli contributed eight points and one assist
