Five Women's Soccer Players Claim CSC Academic All-Distict Accolades

STANDISH, Maine – Five members of the Saint Joseph's College women's soccer program—seniors Eliese Perron (South Portland, Maine), Lelia Weir (Bar Harbor, Maine), and Emilienne Biddings-Augustine (New Gloucester, Maine), along with sophomores Abbey Laney (Standish, Maine) and Fridah Mwaghania (Nairobi, Kenya)—have been named to the College Sports Communicators' 2025 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

Perron, a senior forward and Health & Wellness major, earns Academic All-District honors for the third year in a row after starting all 15 games she appeared in this fall and tallying three goals and two assists for eight points. Over her four-year career, she played in 55 games with 43 starts, recording seven goals, three assists, and three game-winners.

Weir, a senior midfielder majoring in Business Management & Marketing, collects Academic All-District accolades for the second straight season. A two-year captain and one of the most dependable players in program history, she started all 73 games of her collegiate career and totaled six goals—including two game-clinchers—and 14 assists for 26 points.

Biddings-Augustine, an Accounting & Finance major who transferred to Saint Joseph's from SMCC prior to her junior year, appeared in 15 games with six starts this fall and contributed a goal and an assist during her senior season.

Laney, a sophomore midfielder majoring in Elementary & Special Education, continued her upward trajectory by playing in 17 games with 12 starts. She produced three goals—two of them game-winners—and added an assist for seven total points while emerging as a key figure in the midfield.

Mwaghania, a sophomore Biology major, provided valuable depth in the attacking unit. She appeared in 16 games off the bench and recorded five shots, including two on target, as part of a productive second-year campaign.

The CSC Academic All-District program honors the nation's top student-athletes for excellence both on the field and in the classroom. All-District honorees advance to the national Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second-, and third-team selections scheduled for release on December 19 (men) and December 20 (women). To be eligible, student-athletes must participate in at least 90 percent of their team's matches—or start at least 66 percent—and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
