STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced its weekly honors, and Saint Joseph's College freshman Ava Markham (Belfast, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Field Hockey Co-Rookie of the Week.
Markham tallied a goal and two assist for four points in a GNAC Tournament victory over Simmons University on Saturday. The weekly accolade is her fifth of the 2025 season.
Through 19 games – all starts – for the Monks this fall, Markham has netted seven goals with 15 assists for 29 total points. The freshman standout is currently ranked second in the conference in assists and 10th in total points.
Markham shares the weekly honor with Colby-Sawyer freshman Jillian Fredette, who tallied a goal and two assists in the Chargers' 6-0 win over University of Saint Joseph on Saturday.
Saint Joseph's, the #2 seed in the GNAC Tournament, will host #3 Colby-Sawyer College in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday. The tourney tilt will begin at 6:00 PM.
