Monks Dominate Dean in Lopsided Victory on Senior Day

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College of Maine women's basketball team (19-6, 12-2) topped the Dean College Bulldogs (2-11, 0-14) 91-37 in the last regular season GNAC contest of the season on Saturday afternoon at home.
Prior to the start of the game, the Monks honored senior Mackenzie Currie (Merrimac, MA) in a senior day ceremony. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks wasted no time setting the tone, racing out to a 9-2 lead and never relinquishing control. Dean trimmed the deficit to 9-5 at the 4:23 mark, but Saint Joseph's responded with a dominant 13-3 run, closing the first quarter with a commanding 13-point advantage.

The Bulldogs managed to stay within 20 points early in the second quarter, but the Monks' offensive firepower continued to surge as they extended their lead to 29 points at halftime.

Saint Joseph's overwhelmed Dean in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 27-11 to take a 72-27 lead heading into the final frame. Despite Dean's efforts to limit the damage in the fourth, the Monks pushed their advantage to as much as 56 points before closing out a decisive 91-37 victory.

  • Grace Ramsdell (Wells, ME) added 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
  • Abby Dube (Groveland, MA) contributed 13 points, one rebound, three assists, and two steals
  • Brylee Bishop (Gorham, ME) added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals
  • Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) added 11 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal
  • Madison Lebel (Hermon, ME) recorded a game high of 11 rebounds and added an assist
  • Logan Brown (Brunswick, ME) tallied 11 points, five rebounds,and three assists
  • Mackenzie Currie contributed three points, seven rebounds, and a steal on senior day

  • Alexandria Paquet scored 14 points, had five rebounds, and one steal
  • Azaria Landry recorded 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals

The Monks finished the regular season second in the GNAC and will be back at home for the GNAC Quarterfinals game on Tuesday at 5:30pm. The Monks will face the winner of the Emmanuel vs Regis game.
