It was a back-and-forth battle with momentum swinging both ways. After a slow start that saw the Monks fall behind 3-0 in the first quarter, they bounced back strong—rattling off three straight goals in the second to tie it up at halftime.
Saint Joe's kept the pressure on in the third, scoring another three unanswered goals while locking down Norwich on defense to take a 6-3 lead. But Norwich wasn't done yet. The Cadets stormed back with three goals of their own in the fourth quarter, knotting the game at 6-6 with under a minute to go.
Then, with just 16 seconds left, Will Levesque (Marlow, N.H) found the back of the net off a setup from Tiger Hopkins (Leeds, Maine)—who notched his third assist of the day—to seal the win for the Monks.
Calvin Heline (Amesbury, MA) and Ryan Bogdanski (Southington, CT) each scored twice, while Levesque, Kevin Wood (Danvers, MA), and Brandon Cavicchi (Kingston, MA) chipped in one goal apiece. Hopkins led the playmaking effort, and Tyler Moscato (West Haven, CT) added an assist of his own.
On the defensive end, goalie Reed Wescott (Windham, ME) came up big with 12 saves. Zander Kirk (Bath, ME) was dominant on faceoffs, winning 14 of 17 and grabbing a game-high 10 ground balls.
