Monks Fall to Rivier, 14-6

Nashua, NH-The Saint Joseph's College men's lacrosse team came up short on the road Wednesday evening, falling 14-6 to a tough Rivier squad in Nashua, N.H.

The Raiders (10-1, 7-0) jumped out to a 6-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Monks (3-9, 1-5) didn't back down, battling through the rest of the game and holding their own in the second quarter with a 3-3 effort.

Tyler Moscato (West Haven, CT) paced the Monks on offense with two goals and two assists, finishing with a team-high four points. Calvin Heline (Amesbury, MA) added two goals of his own, while Tiger Hopkins (Leeds, ME) chipped in with a goal and an assist. Joseph Kiedaisch (Westminster, MA) also found the back of the net for Saint Joseph's.

Rivier's Coby Mercier led all scorers with four goals and an assist. Michael Ference added two goals and four assists. Connor Eck netted a hat trick, and Michael Zapatka, Sawyer Hall, and James DelPrete each contributed goals for the Raiders.

Both teams finished with nine saves and the Monks had the edge at the face-off, winning 15 of 24 thanks to a strong showing from Zander Kirk (Bath, ME). Ground balls were nearly even (33-32 Rivier), though the Raiders had the upper hand in shots (40-27) and turned the ball over less (18 to the Monks' 25).
