BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College of Maine men's cross country team competed at the Maine State Championship, hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday morning. The Monks placed 10th overall with 283 points in their 8K debut.
"It was a great effort across the board today," said Head Coach Mike Burleson. "I thought we packed up well in the front on both sides, and seeing this many personal bests in the middle of the season is a strong sign that we're moving in the right direction."
NEED TO KNOW:
At the 2023 Maine State Meet, Saint Joseph's finished seventh overall with 223 points, led by then-freshman Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) who placed 23rd in 27:15. That performance highlighted a young group gaining valuable experience in a competitive field dominated by NESCAC and Division I programs. Bowdoin (27 points) claimed the team title, while Bates (37) and Colby (87) rounded out the top three.
This fall, after not competing in States last year, the Monks returned with a deeper lineup but faced one of the strongest fields in recent years. Saint Joseph's placed 10th overall with 283 points, averaging 30:30 across their top five. Pelletier once again led the way in 45th place (28:55), while senior Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) and sophomore Isaac Keresey (Pittsfield, Maine) followed close behind.
