STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman forward Ava Markham (Belfast, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week.
Markham continued to impress during her first collegiate season by recording three assists in two wins for the Monks last week. She set up both of the Monks' regulation goals in a shootout victory over Simmons on Saturday and also converted her penalty shootout attempt in the thrilling triumph.
Through six games this fall, the freshman standout has tallied three goals and three assists for nine points. She is also tied for the conference lead with two game-winning goals. The award is Markham's second of the season, as she also earned Rookie of the Week honors on September 8.
Senior Kienna Haley (Scarborough, Maine) was also named GNAC Player of the Week.
Saint Joseph's will travel to Dean College on Wednesday for a conference matchup slated to begin at 4:00 PM.
