STANDISH, Maine – The Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) weekly honors were announced on Tuesday and Saint Joseph's College freshman Tyler Nelson (Medford, Mass.) has been named the MCBSA Rookie of the Week.

Nelson delivered a strong outing in the Monks' 5-2 victory over Rivier University last Wednesday, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and one walk with six strikeouts. He set the tone from the outset and kept the Raiders off the scoreboard throughout his time on the mound to earn the win.

In five appearances, including four starts, this spring, Nelson is 2-0 with a 4.35 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 20.2 innings pitched. The honor is the first weekly award of his collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's (21-7, 6-4 GNAC) returns to action on Saturday with a conference doubleheader at Norwich University. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
