STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior Sadie Tirrell (Naples, Maine) and sophomore Makayla Quintal (Gorham, Maine) have been named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2026 Academic All-District Softball Team, as announced on Tuesday.
The 2026 CSC Academic All-District® Softball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately honors softball student-athletes in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must participate in at least 90 percent of their team's contests or start a minimum of 66 percent while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Tirrell, a Health & Wellness major and two-time Second Team All-GNAC selection, wrapped up her senior softball season batting .368 (49-133) with 35 runs, 13 doubles, two triples, one home run, 32 RBI, a .519 slugging percentage, a .427 OBP, and seven stolen bases in seven attempts. She led the Monks in runs and hits while ranking second on the team in doubles and RBI.
A four-year standout, Tirrell finished her career batting .360 (170-472) with 115 runs, 30 doubles, nine triples, four home runs, 84 RBI, and 27 stolen bases in 148 games. She graduated ranked among the program's career leaders in multiple categories, including hits (9th), stolen bases (9th), total bases (10th, 230), and doubles and extra-base hits (11th). Also a starter for the Monks' field hockey program, Tirrell recently earned 2026 SJC Female Athlete of the Year and Green13 Award honors and collected 14 academic accolades during her collegiate career, including three CSC Academic All-District selections.
Quintal, an Exercise Science: Pre-Physical Therapy major, enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign as the Monks' starting second baseman in 2026. She hit .352 (38-108) with 29 runs scored, nine doubles, four triples, three home runs, 22 RBI, a .593 slugging percentage, a .410 OBP, and six stolen bases over 41 games this spring.
Quintal also excelled defensively, posting a .988 fielding percentage with just two errors in 167 total chances during the season.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
Under the direction of 29th-year Head Coach Jamie Smyth '92, Saint Joseph's posted a 19-22 overall record with an 11-7 mark in GNAC play en route to earning the No. 2 seed in the conference's North Division. In tournament play, the Monks suffered a 4-2 setback to Rivier University before defeating Lasell University, 12-0, in an elimination game. Saint Joseph's then fell to eventual GNAC Champion Albertus Magnus College, 7-6, in 10 innings.
