WINTHROP, Mass. – The first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades of the 2026-27 academic year have been announced, and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Ava Markham (Belfast, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
Markham opened her sophomore campaign in impressive fashion, recording five goals and an assist as the Monks split their first two contests of the season.
In Thursday's season opener at Plymouth State University, Markham powered Saint Joseph's to a 6-3 victory with career highs in goals (three) and points (seven). Two days later, she accounted for both of the Monks' goals in a loss to Springfield College.
The honor marks the sixth GNAC weekly award of Markham's career. The 2025 GNAC Rookie of the Year is the first Saint Joseph's player to earn GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors since Kienna Haley '26 received the award on September 22, 2025.
Saint Joseph's continues its season tonight with a 6:00 PM road contest against Babson College.
