STANDISH, Maine - #8/11 Saint Joseph's College (23-0, 10-0 GNAC) defeated UMaine-Fort Kent (20-5), 76-54, in a non-conference women's basketball contest at the Harold Alfond Center on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Saint Joseph's - ranked eighth and 11th in last week's D3hoops.com and WBCA national polls, respectively - received 12 points from senior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) and six off the bench from junior guard Julia Quinn (Fryeburg, Maine) in the opening 10 minutes and held a 23-8 advantage heading into the second quarter.

The Bengals showed better in the second quarter but still trailed by 16 (40-24) at the half. The Monks extended their lead to a game-high 31 points (67-36) when senior guard Julia Champagne (Brunswick, Maine) drilled a three-pointer 12 seconds into the fourth quarter.

With the win, the Monks extend their home winning streak to 48 games.

STATS OF THE GAME:

Saint Joseph's was 13-for-31 from three-point distance and made all 11 attempts from the free throw line…UMaine-Fort Kent was just 2-for-17 and 2-for-5 from the charity stripe.

MILESTONE MET:

McNamara became the first SJC player to make 300 three-pointers when she connected on a deep attempt with 7:46 remaining in the second quarter. She is the all-timer leader in three-pointers made in Saint Joseph's and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) history.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

• McNamara tallied 17 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and two steals
• Quinn was 5-for-6 from the field and 4-for-5 from downtown with 14 points in 14 minutes off the bench
• Senior guard Hannah Marks (Waldoboro, Maine) added 13 points, three boards, two assists, and a pair of steals
• Senior forward Emily Benway (Rochester, N.H.) nearly notched a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds and was 6-for-8 from the floor
• Champagne chipped in with nine points, four caroms, and three assists

LEADERS – UMAINE-FORT KENT:

• Junior forward Ivette Trujillo (El Paso, Texas) was 7-for-14 from the field with 14 points and five rebounds
• Junior guard Trinity Washington (Fresno, Calif.) added 13 points, seven boards, three assists, and a pair of steals
• Junior guard Alyse Kline (Livermore, Calif.) came off the bench to score 13 points

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

The Monks are now 19-3 all-time versus UMaine-Fort Kent and have now defeated the Bengals in four consecutive meetings.
