St. Joe's Men's Alpine Places 21st in USCSA Slalom Championship

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's College men's alpine ski team placed 21st with a 7:23.15 composite time in the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Slalom National Championships at Whiteface Mountain on Friday.

With the Giant Slalom and Slalom races in the books, the team totals have been tallied and Saint Joseph's capped the week in 18th place with 36 place points, just behind University of Washington and ahead of the United States Military Academy, University of Nevada, Colorado State University, Lafayette College, University of California-Davis, Columbia, University of Virginia, and The Claremont Colleges.

In today's slalom race, freshman Jacob Morris (North Woodstock, N.H.) placed 47th (1:45.15, 53.34 – 51.81) and sophomore Aidan Wolfinger (Bedford, N.H.) finished 53rd (1:47.93, 54.67 – 53.26). Sophomores Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) and Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) both failed to complete the first run and finished with DNF's.

In the Giant Slalom and Slalom events combined, Morris placed 32nd with 315.57 race points and Wolfinger was 34th with 362.62 race points. Overall, 137 male athletes from 31 institutions across the nation competed in the 2022 USCSA National Championships.

Saint Joseph's competes in the Dual Slalom team event on Saturday to conclude the 2022 season.
