Monks Men Finish Sixth, Women Seventh at USCSA Slalom Regionals

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's alpine ski team finished sixth (4:33.59) in the USCSA Eastern Regional Slalom Championship at Sugarloaf Mountain on Saturday. The Monks' women placed seventh with a total time of 4:49.70.

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

Vermont State University – Castleton featured four of the top 10 individual finishers to win the event, as the Spartans topped the 15-team field with a time of 4:18.25. The University of Connecticut finished second (4:19.75), Babson placed third (4:19.81), Clarkson University finished fourth (4:21.60), and the University of Massachusetts rounded out the top five (4:30.93).

Marin Vigneras (UMass.) won the individual title with a time of 1:23.80, while Ian Hanrahan (UConn.) placed second (1:24.15) and Babson's Elliot Perretta finished third (1:25.01).

Saint Joseph's (4:33.59), UMaine-Farmington (4:34.64), Northeastern (4:35.11), WPI (4:42.86), Tufts (4:46.70), Boston University (5:04.86), Holy Cross (5:17.57), Marist (5:24.85), Bowdoin (5:25.51), and Coast Guard (6:16.93) also competed in the USCSA Slalom Regional Championship.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Logan Davis (Sr., Naples, Maine) – 14th, 1:27.84 (46.80 / 41.04)
  • Colin Rathbone (Sr., Groton, Mass.) – 21st, 1:29.03 (48.29 / 40.74)
  • Samuel Plummer (Jr., Raymond, Maine) – 32nd, 1:36.72 (51.64 / 45.08)
  • Jack Price (Sr., Franconia, N.H.) – 41st, 1:42.08 (45.41 / 56.67)
  • Jacob Gilmore (Sr., Naples, Maine) – DNF

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

Vermont State University – Castleton placed three of the top five finishers and paced the 14-team field with a time of 4:17.86, over four seconds ahead of runner-up Clarkson University (4:22.92). Babson College finished third (4:23.86), the University of Connecticut placed fourth (4:26.27), and the University of Massachusetts rounded out the top five (4:29.28).

Individually, Emilie Stene (Castleton) won the USCSA Regional Slalom event with a time of 1:24.81, while Quinn Dennehy (Babson) finished second (1:25.68) and Abby Horning (UConn.) placed third (1:26.01).

Northeastern (4:38.42), Saint Joseph's (4:49.70), Holy Cross (5:21.17), Tufts (5:34.93), UMaine-Orono (5:55.18), Bowdoin (6:09.54), Boston University (6:43.71), Marist (7:03.14), and MIT (7:15.57) also competed in the slalom regional championship.

END OF THE LINE:

The appearance in the USCSA Regionals caps the 2026 season for the Monks and the program's five seniors: Logan Davis, Colin Rathbone, Jack Price, Jacob Gilmore, and Sienna Mack.
