Saint Joseph's Wins Slalom Race at Black Mountain

RUMFORD, Maine – For the second time in as many days, the Saint Joseph's College men's alpine ski team won a very competitive race at Black Mountain. A day after claiming a five-point giant slalom victory, the Monks edged UMaine-Farmington by one point to clinch a slalom triumph on Sunday.

SJC notched 12 place points with a 4:44.02 composite time to edge out UMF, which recorded 13 place points and a 4:45.27 aggregate effort in the slalom. Bowdoin College placed third with 25 points, New England College was fourth (66 points), UMaine-Orono was fifth (72), and Colby College placed sixth (75).

The Monks showed their depth in today's triumph, as four individuals – including Saturday's individual winner Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) – did not score after failing to finish both runs. First-year Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.) led the way and placed second overall with a 1:31.89 (46.30, 45.59) effort after posting the fastest second-run time.

UMF senior Simon Spear claimed the individual title with a 1:30.75 performance and Bowdoin's Harley Scott rounded out the podium after placing third with a 1:32.81 effort.

First-year Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.) led the way and placed second overall with a 1:31.89 (46.30, 45.59) effort after posting the fastest second-run time.
Freshman Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) finished fourth with a 1:35.01 (47.32, 47.69) time
Sophomore Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) was sixth with a 1:37.12 (50.61, 46.51) performance
Freshman Colin Rathbone (Groton, Mass.) placed 10th (1:42.29, 52.98 – 49.31)
Sophomore Dimitri Southworth (Biddeford, Maine) finished 17th (2:06.29, 1:04.93 – 1:01.36)
Junior Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) recorded the sixth-fastest time (46.82) on the first run and junior Aidan Wolfinger (Bedford, N.H.) posted a 50.47 effort on the opening stint
