Monks Claim #4 Seed in GNAC Tournament

WINTHROP, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), last year's GNAC champion, has once again claimed the regular-season crown and will enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed. The Blue Jays wrapped up conference play with 29 points (9-1-2 GNAC) and will square off against intrastate foe and No. 8 seed Albertus Magnus. The Falcons secured the final spot in the bracket with a decisive 3-1 victory over USJ earlier this evening.

Rivier claimed the No. 2 seed after closing the regular season with 26 points (8-2-2 GNAC) thanks to a 2-1 triumph over Colby-Sawyer. The Raiders, winners of six straight, will face seventh-seeded Emmanuel (18 points; 5-4-3 GNAC) in the quarterfinals. The two sides played to a draw during the regular season, setting the stage for a highly competitive rematch.

The No. 3 seed went to Regis, which finished with an 8-4 league mark and 24 points. The Pride will meet sixth-seeded Norwich (20 points; 6-4-2 GNAC), a matchup Regis took 3-1 during their regular-season encounter.

Rounding out the field is a No. 4 vs. No. 5 battle between Saint Joseph's (Maine) and Dean. The Monks, who closed league play at 7-4-1 with 22 points, will host the Bulldogs (7-5 GNAC, 21 points) on Saturday. Saint Joseph's has the upper hand in the season series after blanking Dean 4-0 earlier this fall.

The GNAC Tournament begins Saturday, November 1, with all four quarterfinals. Semifinals are slated for Tuesday, November 4, with the championship scheduled for Saturday, November 8. The tournament champion will be crowned the 2025 GNAC Men's Soccer Champion and secure the league's automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.
