CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's alpine team will return to the USCSA National Championships after placing seventh overall at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf this weekend. After finishing sixth overall in the giant slalom on Saturday, the Monks earned ninth place in the slalom on Sunday.
Due to weather conditions,skiers were only able to complete one run for scoring purposes. The Monks were led for the second consecutive day by Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.). Price finished his run in 32.13 seconds, placing 14th overall.
Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) finished 26th in 33.75 seconds. Sam Plummer (Raymond, ME) finished 48th with a rum time of 37.28. Owen Pethic (Canterury, N.H.) finished 37.95 seconds to earn 51st place while Colin Rathbone (Groton, MA) finished 67th (58.83 seconds).
The Monks posted a combined time of 1:43.16, securing ninth place.
For the weekend, Jack Price finished as the 10th ranked skier earning 70.77 race points, Caleb Gorton was 23rd with 116,79 race points, Sam Plummer was 39th with 302.15 race points, Colin Rathbone was 53rd with 721.95 race points, and Owen Pethic was 70th.
The USCSA National Championships are set to begin on March 10th in Bend, Oregon.
