NEWTON, MA — The Saint Joseph's College women's basketball team (15-6, 8-2) dealt the Lasell Lasers (10-12, 5-6) a conference loss on Saturday while on the road.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
From the tip-off, the Monks seized control, jumping to an early 13-3 lead, opening up a 10-point advantage. Despite the Lasers fighting back and cutting the deficit to 8 points, 21-13, as the first quarter ended, the Monks remained confident.
In the second quarter, the Lasers attempted to rally, extending their run from the first quarter to make it just a 4-point game. However, the Monks swiftly regained the momentum, launching a dominant 15-0 run over the next 7 minutes. Outscoring the Lasers 18-9 in the quarter, the Monks pushed their lead to 17 by halftime, firmly in control.
The Lasers tried to claw their way back in the third, cutting the lead to 15, but the Monks never let up. The fourth quarter saw the Lasers unable to mount any serious challenge, and the Monks cruised to a 68-50 victory.
