Men's Alpine Competes at USCSA Nationals, Finishes 15th in Slalom

BEND, OR – The Saint Joseph's ski team took on the nation's best at the USCSA Nationals at Mt. Bachelor, battling tough competition and challenging weather conditions throughout the week.

On Wednesday, the Monks tackled the Giant Slalom, finishing 26th overall.

With incoming weather concerns, the Slalom event was moved up from Friday to Thursday to ensure all athletes could complete their runs. The Monks took advantage of the schedule change, delivering a strong performance and finishing 15th out of 27 teams with a combined team time of 4:52.73.

Leading the charge was Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, NH), who secured 29th place with a first run of 44.63 seconds and a second run of 46.36 seconds, totaling 1:30.99. Jack Price (Franconia, NH) followed closely behind in 30th place, clocking in at 45.10 seconds in the first run and 46.03 seconds in the second for a total of 1:31.13.

Sam Plummer (Raymond, ME) rounded out the Monks' competitors, finishing 84th with times of 55.57 seconds and 55.04 seconds, for a total of 1:50.61.

Unfortunately, the Panel Slalom was canceled due to adverse weather conditions, bringing the Monks' Nationals run to a close. Saint Joseph's finished 22nd overall at Nationals, capping off competition on the national stage.
