FRANCONIA, N.H. - The Saint Joseph's College alpine ski teams competed in a giant slalom race at Cannon Mountain on Friday. The SJC women picked up their second victory of the season while the Monks' men posted a second-place finish.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
The Monks secured the victory with 10 place points and a 4:37.98 total time led by freshman Maggie Cook (Centennial, Colo.) with a time of 1:28.44. UMF placed the runner-up with Rosie St Cyr (1:30.05) and the third-place finisher with Hokulani Caroselli (1:33.31) to notch second place with a time of 4:59.46 and 30 points.
UMaine-Orono (35 pts) (4:59.75) and Bowdoin (32 pts) (5:01.18)Â also raced in the giant slalom today.
FOR THE MONKS:
- Maggie Cook – first, 1:28.44 (43.78 / 44.66)
- Junior Hannah Golden (Concord, N.H.) – fourth, 1:34.70 (46.73 / 47.97)
- Freshman Ava Beaudin (Raymond, Maine) – fifth, 1:34.84 (47.36 / 47.48)
- Junior Lily Anctil (Greene, Maine) – sixth, 1:35.53 (48.41 / 47.12)
- Senior Sienna Mack (Lincoln, N.H.) – eighth, 1:38.26 (49.05 / 49.21)
- Sophomore Reese Burke (Center Barnstead, N.H.) – 11th, 1:39.35 (50.11 / 49.24)
- Junior Meghan Cyr (Hampden, Maine) – 13th, 1:41.04 (49.86 / 51.18)
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
UMaine-Farmington placed the top two finishers with the event winner Lance Dolan (1:18.84) and the runner-up Sam Roy (1:19.89) to take the men's title with a total time of 4:00.28 and eight place points. Saint Joseph's was second with 15 place points and a total time of 4:03.60 led by senior Colin Rathbone (Groton, Mass.) with a time of 1:20.53 that completed the podium.
Bowdoin (40 pts, 4:30.13) and UMaine-Orono (82 pts, 5:05.37) also raced in the giant slalom today.
