STANDISH, Maine – The 2026 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Teams have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Remijo Wani (Portland, Maine) has claimed First Team All-District 1 honors for the second consecutive season.
Wani adds another major honor to an already decorated junior campaign after once again establishing himself as one of the top players in the region. A repeat GNAC Player of the Year, Maine State Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-State, and GNAC Tournament MVP, he matched the remarkable postseason sweep he achieved a year ago while serving as the driving force behind Saint Joseph's success throughout 2025-26.
The Portland native turned in the best season of his career, averaging 22.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 49.2% from the floor, 40.1% from beyond the arc, and 75.0% at the line. He finished second among Maine's Division III players in both scoring average and total points and also ranked among the state's leaders in field goals made, three-pointers made, assists, and rebounding.
Wani also reached a major milestone this winter, becoming the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 career points before his senior season. That same game, Wani Donato also joined the 1,000-point club, marking just the second time in program history that two Monks reached the milestone in the same contest.
Still just three seasons into his career, Wani has already compiled 1,364 points, 476 rebounds, 226 assists, and 107 steals in 80 games played. His production has already placed him among the top performers in program history, and only six players have scored more points through their first three seasons in a Saint Joseph's uniform.
Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Tyler Ackley — a repeat GNAC Coach of the Year — Saint Joseph's authored one of the most resilient seasons in recent program history. The Monks weathered a 3-8 opening stretch that included injuries to key pieces, then flipped the script with a 17-game surge that stood as the nation's third-longest active streak at the time. Saint Joseph's closed the 2025-26 campaign at 20-9 overall and never dropped a conference contest, going 12-0 in GNAC play.
That momentum carried into March, where the Monks defended their league crown by knocking off second-seeded University of Saint Joseph in the GNAC Championship game. The win delivered Saint Joseph's third conference title since joining the GNAC in 2007 and sent the Monks to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history. Their run ended in a tightly contested first-round battle, as Babson edged Saint Joseph's, 71-67.
