WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its weekly awards, naming Saint Joseph's College junior Gabriella Thomas (Lewiston, Maine) the GNAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.

Thomas recorded a defensive save in each of the Monks' two games last week, including a key stop in Saturday's 2-1 double-overtime victory over GNAC rival New England College. She also tallied a defensive save against Dean College earlier in the week.

With two defensive saves on the week, Thomas doubled her season total to a team-leading four.

The honor marks the first GNAC weekly award of Thomas's career. She is the first Saint Joseph's player to earn the defensive accolade since Chloe Grasso (Westbrook, Maine) received the honor on October 10, 2025.

The Monks return to action Wednesday, October 14, traveling to face Colby-Sawyer College at 4:00 PM.
