Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine — The Saint Joseph's College women's basketball team secured a 82-53 victory over University of Maine-Farmington (2-5) on Tuesday night, improving their record to 4-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game was competitive early, with the Beavers coming out to an early lead but thanks to six points from Maddie Russell, the Monks overcome their deficit to jump out to an early 14-10 lead after the first quarter. Saint Joseph's maintained control in a back-and-forth second quarter to take a 29-23 advantage into halftime.
Saint Joseph's came into the second half strong. A three-pointer from Angelica Hurley started a 15-4 run to end the third quarter. The Monks outscored the Beavers 28-14 to take a 57-37 lead going into the final quarter. The Monks continued to build on their lead scoring 10 straight points to start the fourth quarter. A three pointer from Grace Ramsdell gave the Monks a 31 point lead. The Monks scored 25 points while only allowing 16 in the final frame to cruise to a 82-53 win.
LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:
- Junior Grace Ramsdell (Wells, ME) led the Monks with a game-high of 22 points, shooting 10-16 from the field, while adding a game-high 12 rebounds, two blocks and a steal
- Graduate Student Angelica Hurley (Groveland, MA) added 16 points, 5 rebounds, one assist and one steal
- Sophomore Maddie Russell (Oakfield, ME) put up 14 points, shooting 7 out of 10 field goals, six rebounds, two assists, and a game-high 4 steals
- Junior Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) contributed six points with three rebounds, three assists and two steals
- Junior Madison Lebel (Hermon, ME) chipped in with four points and three steals while junior Lindsay Fiorillo (Scarborough, ME) added five points, two rebounds, and an assist
LEADERS – MAINE-FARMINGTON:
- Jessica Dow led Maine-Farmington with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block
- Jaydn Pingree added 11 points, three rebounds and one steal off the bench
- Sarah Poli contributed eight points, five rebounds, two assists and one block
