STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Layla Facchiano (Auburn, Maine) has been selected as the MWBCA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Facchiano delivered a strong week off the bench for the Monks, averaging 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in a pair of conference victories. She erupted for a career-high 16 points in Tuesday's win over Lasell University, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor while adding five rebounds. Facchiano followed with 10 points, six boards, and a career-best seven assists in Saturday's victory at Dean College.
A key contributor as a first-year player, Facchiano is averaging 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals while logging 22.5 minutes per game across 19 contests.
Saint Joseph's will travel to Rivier University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 11) at 7:00 PM.
